Mister Mada: “Aimelody… a true association whose objectives are to produce and promote artists rich in talent but deprived of material resources.”
I am an artist from Mauritania (West Africa). I made my first steps in the world of Music with Rap, notably with the group Princes Hip-Hop, a collective that lived for 6 years. In 2012, my passion for Rap extended to Reggae. Since then, it is through singing that I get inspired and express myself. Today, I have also decided to perfect my skills as an instrumentalist (guitar, piano and bass).
The most frequent problem for artists in Mauritania is finding the necessary authorizations for the organization of concerts. Not to mention the fact that most of the establishments offering festivities and musical scenes that existed at the time were closed one after the other. There is therefore very little stage space for a Mauritanian artist. Similarly, there are very few music studios where artists can record their music in good quality. There are no copyright societies in the country, so the few artists who manage to record their works cannot earn any monetary income from their creations. I would say that in our country everything has to be done at this level!
Aimelody is a non-profit organization whose mission is to use phonographic and visual art as a vehicle for entertainment and cultural enrichment. Beyond being a simple label or music studio, it is a true association whose one of its objectives is to produce and promote artists rich in talent but lacking in material resources. When they settled in Mauritania in 2014, I had the chance to attend and participate in the activities carried out by the association. So it was quite naturally that the studio offered me to record my first Ep as well as several live capsules and clips.
