Association Pour Enfants Handicapés au Sénégal (APEHS) is an association that aims to promote specific and individualized support for young people with physical, mental and deafness in Senegal. Education and additional educational support are provided to children and young people at the Coeur Bleu center located in Ouakam, Dakar. The association APEHS also supports the families of these children and advocates for real recognition of disability in society and also advocating for inclusion for those who are affected.
Volunteers support members of the APEHS association by leading the activities of the “Blue Heart” center for children with mental disabilities:
Training: No specific training is required, diversity and complementarity of profiles will add to the success of the mission. Nevertheless, training in the area of personal assistance or special education is valuable. Past experiences in contact with people with disabilities is a plus to more efficiently adapt to the communities needs.
