AIME Celebrates its 10th Anniversary: Retrospective in Pictures
In 2019, the AIME association celebrates its 10th anniversary. This was an anniversary we wanted to mark. For this occasion, several new events will take place across the Paris region. First in the series: A photo exhibition at the Kiwanda space on September 20th, 2019.
For the 10th anniversary of our organization, we organized an evening to present all our projects we have supported. To do this, we organized a photo exhibition at the Kiwanda space in Paris.
Over the course of 10 years, AIME has helped nearly 300 volunteers have the opportunity to assist on projects in efforts to reduce poverty. AIME has also supported 24 local structures in 12 different countries in Central America, Asia, and Africa.
So why a photo exhibition? Simply because a picture is worth 1,000 words. We wanted to highlight our dearest partners through the magnificent photos taken exclusively in the field by our volunteers and partners.
This exhibition was also an opportunity for our volunteers who have returned from their missions to share with us their stories in person: “I loved it, I didn’t want to leave. It was really an enriching experience. EcoGreen is a very small organization with no budget. There was a lot to be built and we could help as much as we could in such an extraordinary environment.” Lucie recalls. She spent 3 months at EcoGreen, a Zambian organization whose main goals are to promote restoration and to raise awareness of the dangers of deforestation and other environmental issues among young people.
The missions were also the realization of projects for some of our volunteers: “I decided to go on a mission with AIME because I have always dreamed of doing a mission like this, working with children, helping them grow up.” Benedetta shared with us. She completed her mission in Senegal at La Palabre. There, she was able to teach and organize fun and educational activities with the children. Benedetta now has a dream: “My wish is to return in 10 years and see what all the children have become: Bakers, business women, etc.” she said with a smile.
To be continued for AIME’s 20th anniversary!
