Description of the partner

AMURTEL was founded in India in 1975 by the philosopher, humanitarian and spiritual master P. R. Sarkar to respond specifically to the problems faced by women and children in their struggle for meaningful development in all areas of life.

Amurtel’s work is global in scope and individual in practice. Amurtel believes that everyone has an equal right to the necessities as well as the opportunities to flourish. It is an integral part of Amurtel’s mission that all services are based on respect for local culture, religion, language and the individual, and ensure the continued autonomy of all.

AMURTEL provides emergency aid and long-term support after disasters. They provide services at different levels and in different ways, depending on the needs of the region. Projects include schools, homes for abandoned children, health services, feeding programmes, vocational training, self-help groups and micro-credit cooperatives.

AMURTEL works in Greece, in Athens, at a safe-space for pregnant refugee women and during the early childhood period.
