Description of the partner

The Centro Andino de Educación y Promoción “José María Arguedas” (CADEP JMA) is an association based in Cusco. This region boasts a wide variety of cultures living side by side on the high plateaux. Organised into communities, many people of Quechua origin remain marginalised within today’s civil society. The region presents major challenges for the development of peasant communities in the Andean highlands. CADEP JMA is an institution that aims to generate critical awareness, to promote innovative experiments with a high level of involvement of the population with a view to sustainable human development, and also to influence, together with the Quechua indigenous peoples, the democratisation processes of Peruvian society. In its constant quest for sustainable development for the Andean peoples, CADEP JMA seeks to contribute to intercultural education, to the affirmation and autonomy of the Quechua indigenous peoples, particularly women and the most vulnerable sectors, and to sustainable management of the environment.

The mission is exclusively a Civic Service mission, lasting 10 months, from february to november.
