Description of the partner

CEDEP Ayllu stands for Centro para el Desarrollo de los Pueblos Ayllu.

The Cusco region is home to a wide variety of cultures living side by side on the high plateaux. Organised into communities, many peoples of Quechua origin remain marginalised within today’s civil society. The region presents major challenges for the development of peasant communities in the Andean highlands. CEDEP AYLLU develops its activities within the framework of cooperation between rural communities, departments and provinces, which support and promote proposals that contribute to improving the well-being of the vulnerable population. In this context, CEDEP AYLLU develops social promotion activities aimed at promoting knowledge of rights, the capacity for self-determination and the sustainable management of natural resources. The non-profit association promotes technical assistance, training and ongoing support for project development. Its members’ extensive experience in natural resource management enables communities to move forward in developing a more sustainable future.

The mission is exclusively a Civic Service mission, lasting 10 months, from february to november.

The mission

Volunteers at CEDEP Ayllu will carry out the following activities in support of local team members:

  • Participate in awareness-raising activities in the areas of intervention: volunteers will support the local team in conducting workshops related to the law, gender equality and the sustainable management of natural resources. Depending on the association’s schedule, the volunteers will be part of the team that regularly visits the communities in the field.
  • Supporting the local team in synthesising the information obtained: the volunteers will support the local team in the administration, classification and presentation of the information gathered during the workshops. Using this information, the volunteers will work with the local team to determine priorities for action based on the needs expressed by the communities during the workshops.
