Description of the partner
This school opened in 1972 and, like the Franco-Senegalese school at Fann, is recognised by France and Senegal under intergovernmental agreements. It enables children from the two communities, French and Senegalese, to live together for an important part of their schooling. It also welcomes pupils of all nationalities.
The school, approved by the French Ministry of Education, is in partnership with the AEFE.
The mission
The volunteers’ tasks at the two sites of Fann residence and Plateau will be :
- Supporting the running and management of the library: Volunteers will support the local team in running the school library. This involves managing loans, welcoming the various classes during reading times and setting up fun and educational activities to promote reading.
- Helping to promote the school’s activities: Volunteers will help to create content on social networks to highlight the school’s activities to the general public and parents.
Candidate profile
The most important criterion for a Civic Service volunteering is motivation for the assignment.
However, the role does require you to be at ease with children, to be creative, etc. Experience of working with young people is a plus.
Accommodation
Accommodation is at the volunteer’s expense. The Africa Regional Manager, who also lives in Dakar, will be able to help the volunteer find accommodation and negotiate the rent.
You should expect to pay around €200-300 per month for a flat in Dakar.
