Description of the partner
Ometepe Bilingual School is an educational centre that aims to give children with fewer financial resources access to a high-quality bilingual education, free of charge. The school’s mission is also to promote an eco-responsible lifestyle. In 2013, the school launched an eco-brick construction project using recycled plastic bottles to build the centre’s 6 classrooms.
The mission is exclusively a Civic Service mission, lasting 10 months from February to November.
The mission
Volunteers at Ometepe Bilingual School carry out the following activities, in support of local team members:
- Supporting the school’s educational activities: volunteers take part in classes to support the school’s salaried teachers, particularly in English classes.
- Helping to organise extra-curricular activities: sports, artistic activities, leading national theme days (Mother’s Day, Children’s Day, etc.)
- Helping to organise awareness-raising workshops on the environment and other social issues (hygiene, food, etc.)
Support for the eco-brick construction project within the centre and the region - Helping to run the community on social networks and with partners
