Description of the partner

Founded in 2010, the CRESAS association in Ivory Coast promotes scenography and the performing arts through training workshops. The association has a number of areas of action, such as promoting exchanges between scenographers and theater technicians, encouraging the presence of women in scenography, and raising the profile of African performing arts. The overall aim of CRESAS is to reduce poverty through the scenic arts.

The association has a center in the village of M’brago 2, with the aim of bringing culture to the people of this remote village. The cultural center is a place of entertainment for the young people of the village, a meeting place for Ivorian and international artists, and also a meeting place for the local population. Through its actions, CRESAS decentralizes culture in rural areas.

The mission is exclusively a Civic Service assignment, lasting from 6 to 12 months.

The mission

CRESAS volunteers carry out the following activities, in support of local team members:

  • Support for after-school and school activities: Volunteers work with the local team to organize recreational activities and educational workshops for village children. These workshops can take a variety of forms, including film projections, literacy workshops, theater and manual arts.
  • Support for the development of the center: Volunteers work closely with the center’s artists to promote the center’s artistic programming and cultural activities. This involves helping to develop the various activities in collaboration with the association’s partners.
