Description of the partner

The SID ONG association, in Benin, was created in 2018, with a view to finding a response to issues linked to poverty, social exclusion, the defense of human rights and environmental protection. The association brings together Beninese volunteers and several focal points in all Benin’s departments, who act as regional relays. SID ONG raises awareness in schools and local communities on various themes: education for children in vulnerable situations, promotion of women’s entrepreneurship, environmental awareness and awareness of sexual and reproductive health rights. SID ONG’s actions promote civic engagement and community service.

The mission is exclusively a Civic Service assignment, lasting from 6 to 12 months.

The mission

SID ONG volunteers support local team members in the following activities:

  • Support for awareness-raising activities: support for the SID ONG team in awareness-raising activities aimed at local communities. These awareness-raising activities focus on various themes, such as the environment and the promotion of responsible daily practices, sports by raising the awareness of young girls in sports clubs about violence in sporting events and practices, and sexual and reproductive health awareness.
  • Support for ongoing projects: partner support for the implementation of ongoing projects, such as those promoting entrepreneurship among women, or educational actions for children in vulnerable situations.
  • Support in the creation of awareness-raising educational tools: participation with team members in the creation of new educational tools and awareness content.
Candidate profile

Training :

No training, specific skills, prior professional or volunteer experience can be required. Motivation is the only factor that really needs to be taken into account in the context of Civic Service.

Preferred profile :

Profiles that are at ease with the general public and have an interest in awareness-raising or development through sport are most welcome.

Accommodation

Volunteers are provided with private accommodation. There is a telephone network and Wifi access within the host structure.
